HOW WE GOT STARTED
Back in 2021 One Planet Clanfield held a community-wide workshop to find out what people most wanted to protect in our lovely local environment. People came up with lots of initiatives before voting on the ones they most supported. Replacing fossil fuels with green alternatives came top of the list.
But there was a snag. Energy and heating projects are complex, technologically challenging, and notoriously hard to pull off. They can take years to complete. So we got on with other important environmental initiatives until finally a group of us felt confident we had the skills, time and determination to begin our mission.

HOW WE ARE ORGANISED
Initially part of One Planet Clanfield, now we are a separate legal entity, Heat Clanfield Limited. We can enter contracts, raise money through community shares or loans, and we have a bank account. We chose to be a Community Benefit Society in preference to other types of company because a CBS must serve only the broader interests of our community, not its members.
HOW WE ARE FUNDED
Heat Clanfield successfully applied for a Community Energy Fund grant from the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero to pay for an initial feasibility study. This is currently underway with renewable energy consultants Scene Connect who will report back in April.
